With the beta release getting closer and closer we added some very important features that we planned at the beginning of the development to make it more accessible for players. For example, we added a way of changing the screen size with the window size and added a new “full screen”-button. For that we needed to rewrite most of the draw codes in the entire game.

Also, we had some feedback from a playtest-evening that made some more bugs obvious and gave us the idea of adding tooltips to the shop to see what they can do. We made the tooltips so, that we could use it anywhere to show extra info and a way to show if you don’t have enough energy or money.

We also experimented with enemy speed and with that added a first version of a freezing tower and a new type of tools a player can use: Traps. Those traps have only a few uses but can be built right on the path the enemies walk on. So, we added a Slime-trap that would slow a handful of enemies significantly to make it easier for the towers to destroy them.

We added a Pause-menu and a Tutorial to guide the players friendly into the game and allowing an option to pause the game whenever you want. We also changed some things about retiming to make it more stable and fix a few bugs that appeared.

We rearranged the levels to have inheritance from a parent scene to make sure every level will have the same layers. This allows for some easy changes after we add new levels later.

Lastly, we eventually got a wave-system working after many weeks of trying and giving up. At the end we got it working and needed to change some things in our spawner object to make it work with the rest of our systems. For example our level Manager.We also added a new sprite for the planned bomb-tower.
